Nothing beats the exceptional views of the Volcanoes on a clear sky day as you descent in to Kisoro town, this are one of the most spectacular views in Uganda, the upper most southern tip is close to Rwanda making it easily accessible from Kigali.

Accommodation in this area yet a challenge, there are only two lodges in this area, MT Gahinga lodge which is the only luxury property in this area a long side Amajembere rest camp for budget stay, most travellers to this area will do day trips to Mgahinga and stay in Kisoro town and nearby Lake Mutanda.

#1. Chameleon hill lodge

Chameleon hill lodge is located 1.5 hours from Mgahinga national park, the lodge is located on one of the hills overlooking Lake Mutanda and the dormant volcanoes and this lodge has one of the most spectacular views in Uganda.

Why we like it:

Great views, exceptional service, comfortable and exclusive rooms.

Know before:

The lodge is slightly far meaning you will have an early start to the day.

#2. MT Gahinga Lodge

Mount Gahinga is the closest lodge to the park, this traditionally build lodge is a unique piece of architectural design build to give maximum comfort and the lodge is pure example of conservation as it has great community involvement.

Why we like it:

Close to the starting point for all the activities in Mgahinga gorilla national park hence less driving and the rooms are extremely comfortable.

Know before:

MT Gahinga is slightly expensive but it’s worth value for money.

#3. Mucha Lodge

Mucha is an exceptional value for money lodge located near Kisoro town on a River that connects Lake Mutanda and Lake Mulehe, this lodge is our favourite in this area with comfortable rooms in a natural setting.

Why we like it:

The prices are worth the stay and its exceptional mid-range accommodation.

The lodge has a very small capacity and its perfect for small groups and Family.
