How to get to Volcanoes National Park
Just like one would think of traveling to a tropical rainforest located Northwest of the main capital Kigali, they would be having a lot of questions to ask about the road conditions, if you need a 4×4 safari vehicle or you would need to fly into the area, but surprisingly volcanoes national park is located 140 km from the main capital Kigali on a tarmac road, the road trip will take you about 2 hours to Ruhengeri and another half an hour to the park headquarters in Kinigi making it one of the easiest gorilla national parks to access in the whole of Africa.
However, the tarmac road does not cover all the gorilla trekking areas in the park so while planning a safari to the volcanoes national park ensure that you use a 4×4 safari vehicle as some terrains are extremely rough and will require a high ground vehicle.
