Virunga Lodge

Virunga Lodge has 10 Bandas plus Tour leader cottage available, the two deluxe Bandas called Ibirunga and Ibiyaga – have their own private sitting room and more refined interiors and will also include a hot tub and a larger terrace overlooking the majestic Virunga volcanoes or the twin lakes.

Virunga Lodge is located on the high hills of Lake Bulera and Ruhondo close to the border of Uganda’s Mgahinga national park which is separated by the Cyanika border the Lodge is approximately 45 minutes drive to Volcanoes national park where the ultimate gorilla trekking experience takes place in the rainforest.
How to get to Virunga Lodge
Virunga lodge can only be accessible by Road from Kigali via Musanze; the drive from Kigali to Musanze is about 2 hours and then from Musanze to the Lodge is about an hour however a 4×4 safari vehicle is recommended as the lodge is located on top of the hill.

- The Dian Fossey Map Room has been built in honor of Dr. Dian Fossey, the pioneering primatologist who set up the Karisoke Center high in the Virunga volcanoes in 1967.
