When is the best time for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda?

Although there are around 250,000 chimpanzees left in the equatorial forests of Africa, observing them in their natural habitat is a rare treat. One of the best places to do so is Uganda.

However, while planning a safari to Uganda one needs to know when the best time to trek the chimpanzees is.

In general chimpanzee trekking in Uganda is an all-year-round safari activity and the best time depends on pretty much the availability of food and rain.

The dry seasons in Uganda from June to October and from December to March are considered the best times due to the fact that the same seasons are the best time to trek Mountain gorillas in their Natural habitat in Bwindi and Mgahinga gorilla national parks.

November and April are probably the shoulder months as these two months receive lots of rainfall making it hard to trek the chimpanzees with the wet grounds in the dense forest cover of Kibale forest national park, Kyambura gorge, Kalinzu forest, and Budongo forest respectively.
