How many people are allowed to trek Chimpanzees in Uganda

Chimpanzees are the closet primates to Humans with a DNA of 98.7 making them closely related to humans, and chimpanzees live in a social unit called the drop which can be as big as 100 plus and they usually occupy a territory and males will within that trop defend the trop from other intruding males.

Based on the social life of chimpanzees it is very difficult to control how many people visit the chimpanzees per trek, in Uganda, all the chimpanzee forests offer 2 treks a day one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.

What happens during an actual chimpanzee trek?

Guest who has purchased chimpanzee permits for that particular day will have to make their way to the starting point where they will be received by rangers for registration and briefing, after the briefing guests will be divided into smaller groups usually 5 guests to 1 ranger guide and then each ranger will start trekking the chimpanzees in different directions with the aim walking quietly through the forest hoping to listen to the chimpanzee voices, falling leaves, and fruits, weird smells, loud noise from tree stems and the ground remember all guides are listening to the same and if any of these signs is hard then the ranger guides with the guest will start to advance to that particular location hence all the guest end up viewing the same troop of Chimpanzees though they can be spread across the given area.

Conclusion

Since human beings have a very low impact on the chimpanzees during the 1-hour viewing it is perfectly okay to have many people view the chimpanzees at ago opposed to gorilla trekking where only 8 guests are allowed to trek the gorillas daily but for more exclusive trekking speak to our Africa travel experts today.
