Serengeti national park located in northern Tanzania is one of the safari Meccas’s in Africa, the greater Serengeti ecosystem is one of the top destinations in Africa to see wildlife, during February to March the Ndutu plains in southern Serengeti are covered in breeding herds of wildebeest attracting one of Africa’s largest concentration of predators and the Wildebeest Mara River crossing is one of the greatest spectacles in the entire animal kingdom as millions of angulates make it through the fierce Mara River in the presence of crocodiles and other predators.

Safari itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Arusha to Serengeti national park
After morning breakfast at your lodge, you will be picked up by your guide and start your drive to Tanzania’s famous wildlife playground the mighty Serengeti which plays host to Africa’s greatest wildlife spectacles, this drive will take you through dramatic landscapes and you will see wildlife en route to the lodge upon arrival you will check in to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 2: Full day game drives in Serengeti national park to follow the Migration herds
After morning breakfast with picnic lunch, you will head into the park for a game drive, on the course of the drive you will always look out for wildlife like cheetahs, lions, leopards, hyenas, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest en route Mara River where you will expect to witness thundering hooves and hooves stampedes as the wildebeest gather along the river banks to wait to plunge into the river in order to cross to Masai mara for a greener pasture and later you will return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 3: Full day game drives in Serengeti national park to follow the Migration herds
Yet another day of drama in the Serengeti, you will start the day with souls of sounds from the wild, head in for early morning breakfast and after start looking out for wildlife you may have missed as you continue to the Mara River hopping to see the Wildebeest crossing live as millions of wildebeest, zebras, Thomson’s gazelle, and Eland face their greatest obstacle of the River crossing with big crocodiles on the wait for food and sometimes strong currents that cause a big threat to the wildebeest.
Day 4: Full day game drives in Serengeti national park to follow the Migration herds
After morning breakfast you will head out again for an early morning game drive to try and see some nocturnal wildlife like hyenas and leopards that like to hunt in dusk and dawn and later you will meet with the lodge for a bush breakfast in the park and later continue to the Mara River to follow the wildebeest herds hopping to see the Crossing happen and later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 5: Full day game drives in Serengeti national park to follow the Migration herds
After series of game drives in the Serengeti, you will head out again in the park to see your final wildlife drama, for those keen on culture can visit the Masai village in the morning, and later in the afternoon, you transfer to Mara River to follow the wildebeest herds and later you will enjoy a sundowner with drinks and snacks in the park and later return to the lodge for overnight.
Day 6: Drive back to Arusha for your departure flight to Kigali Rwanda
After morning breakfast you will bid farewell to the lodge and start your drive to Kilimanjaro via Arusha for shopping and a small tour thereafter you will be transferred to the airport to connect your flight to Kigali, upon arrival our guide in Rwanda will pick you up and transfer you to the lodge for overnight.
Day 7: Kigali city tour in the morning and drive to volcanoes national park Rwanda
After lazily morning breakfast you will head to the city for a short city tour where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial and the Belgian peace center and after you will head to hotel Rwanda for lunch and after you will start your drive to Volcanoes national park for you ultimate gorilla trekking experience, upon arrival you will check-in for overnight.
Day 8: Gorilla trekking experience in Volcanoes national park Rwanda
After early morning breakfast fully dressed in your Mountain gorilla trekking gear, you will then be transferred to Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trek, after the briefing you will then drive to the trailhead to start your trek on foot, upon locating the mountain gorillas you will spend 1 hour with them and later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 9: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Kigali for your departure flight
After morning breakfast you will again transfer to Kinigi park headquarters for yet another primate encounter, the golden monkeys are rear species of primates and they are extremely beautiful, after briefing you will drive to the starting point for the golden monkey trek, upon locating the golden monkeys you will spend 1 hour with them and return to the lodge for refreshment a later start your drive back to Kigali for your departure flight.

Being an East African combo, this safari package is best booked 1 year in advance to allow us to book very strategically located accommodation for the wildebeest Migration and book the Rwanda gorilla permits in advance.
Best time to witness wildebeest Migration and trek Mountain gorillas in Rwanda
Our peak season to book this safari is either in August or October when the River crossings occur often and gorilla trekking in Rwanda is fantastic but Late July and September are still great.
