Detailed safari itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport and transfer to the lodge

On arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport you will be received by our guide and transfer to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 2: Windhoek city tour

Windhoek is the capital city of Namibia, the country with the smallest population in Africa due to its vast size, much of it covered by desert. Hot days and warm nights make it a city worthy of a few days of exploration before or after a wild African experience. You can visit the visit the Tintenpalast Gardens, Katutura Township Tour, Game meats at Joe’s in Windhoek, Shop for Local Crafts and later return to the lodge for overnight.

Day 3:  Drive from Windhoek to Grootfontein area

After morning breakfast you will start your drive north towards Grootfontein area where we will meet the Bushmen tribe. We make a 2 hour stop at the Hoba Meteor: main mass of meteor is estimated at 60 tons making it the largest known meteorite on earth and after you will check in to your hotel for overnight.

Day 4: Walking safari with the Bushmen

After breakfast you will take off to explore the waterholes in search of wildlife. In the evening you will return to camp for time to relax and maybe a cool dip in the pool before dinner. After dinner, spend some time watching the wildlife gather at the waterhole before turning in for a good night sleep.

Day 5: Drive to Etosha national park

After breakfast on our way to Namibia’s premier tourist attraction – Etosha National Park! Etosha is one of the world’s top wildlife viewing areas, extending more than 350km from east to west. The wide-open plains, numerous waterholes attracts large number of wildlife like Lions, Zebras, Oryx/Gemsbok, Elephants, Giraffes, Black Rhino, and many more other species) makes visits to Etosha very rewarding. Afternoon game drive Return to the camp before sunset and closing of the gates.

Day 6: Full day game drives in Etosha national park

Today we continue our Etosha adventure with an extended game drive in the morning, trying to take in as much of this beautiful park and its wild animals as we can. The large variety of birds and the ease with which they may be observed has made Etosha a popular birding venue. Larger birds such as the Secretary bird and Kori Bustard and numerous birds of prey are frequently spotted after you will return to the lodge for relaxation and later return to the park for evening game drive in the park and later return to the lodge for early dinner and later head to the floodlit water holes to look out for wildlife that come to drink water in the night.

Day 7: Drive from Etosha to Opuwo to visit the Himba tribe

After breakfast, we are leaving Etosha we make our way to Opuwo, where we will meet the Himba people – a tribe having the appearance of having been forgotten by the rest of the world, but this is only a product of their extreme isolation and conservative way of life, on arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 8: Visit the Himba community

The next morning, we meet the Himba people and visit to their village, learning about their ancient way of life. This is a unique opportunity to observe their exotic culture and customs as well as a chance for ethnic photography.

Visit at the village and close encounter with Himba people creates superb opportunity for spectacular ethnic photography! And later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 9: Drive from Opuwo to Windhoek

After breakfast we are heading back to Windhoek. We will have stop in Otjiwarongo for a quick lunch and in Okahandja for final opportunity to buy gifts at the local market where they sell beautiful crafts. We will arrive in Windhoek in the late afternoon and drop you off at your hotel or you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.

Best time to travel to Namibia for Wildlife and cultural tour

Springtime in Namibia is from September to November and is a wonderful time to travel. The temperatures start to climb but it rarely gets too hot. The land begins to slowly stir and there is a buzz in the air as everyone and everything waits in restless anticipation of the coming rains.
