Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be received by our representative and transfer to the lodge for overnight in Kigali.

Day 2: Drive from Kigali to Virunga National Park (Bukima)
Arrive at Grande Barriere border crossing by 10.00 am and ensure check-in with Virunga Tourism office by 11.00 am. The tourism office is conveniently located in the Grande Barriere border post building, opposite the immigration office. You will receive Gorillas and Nyiragongo permits at check-in which must be presented at the start of each trek. Once check-in is complete, visitors will be transported to Bukima Camp in the Gorilla sector, On arrival at Bukima, lunch will be served and the afternoon can be enjoyed at leisure overnight at Bukima Tented Camp.

Day 3: Bukima (Gorillas trek) – Mikeno Lodge
After breakfast, set off for Gorillas trek directly out of their camp and meet your Ranger guide and local porters to receive a briefing before starting the Gorillas trek. Treks usually require 1.2.5 hours of hiking each way. After spending the allotted hour with Gorillas, return to Bukima camp then proceed with the drive to Mikeno Lodge where the remainder of the day can be spent relaxing on the Lodge terrace or visiting the Gorillas orphanage at the Senkwekwe Center.

Day 4: Mikeno Lodge – Nyiragongo volcano
After early morning breakfast, with your packed lunch, drive into Virunga National Park precisely at Kibati where there is the post rangers patrol, after the registration and briefing, enjoy the Nyiragongo volcano hike starting at 1994m and ending at 3470m altitude at the summit, see the impressive lava lake in the largest crater, overnight up the summit in the Virunga National park shelters. Meal included. Note: The climb up to Volcano will take around 4 to 6hours, overnight up the summit in the cabin. Dinner included.

Day 5: Nyiragongo volcano – Goma
After a very early morning visit to the lava lake again, take your breakfast, around 6 am, descend the volcanic mountain with a view of Karisimbi and Mikeno Volcanic Mountains, arrive at the starting point, write comments and drive back to Goma with drop off at the Grande Barriere.

Day 6: Transfer to TChegera Island
After a beautiful hike to the world’s most active lava, you will transfer to TChegera Island for much-needed relaxation on the island.

Day 7: Leisure at TChegera Island
Spend the day doing optional activities at the island like sunset boat cruise or kayaking or you can relax and read your book as you enjoy the beautiful views from the island.

Day 8: Transfer from TChegera Island and drive to Lake Kivu Rwanda
After lazily breakfast you will transfer to the Goma border point where you will cross to Rwanda overnight at the shores of Lake Kivu.

Depending on your flight you will transfer to Kigali for your flight.

What’s included?
Virunga National Park tourist visa, vehicle, a driver, fuel, and road government taxes, 1-night accommodations at Bukima Tented Camp and 1-night accommodation at Mikeno Lodge with a shelter up Nyiragongo volcano summit, Gorillas and Nyiragongo permits, Nyiragongo volcano mountain (porters, sleeping bag, a cook and meal up the summit), drinking water and an English speaking guide.

Not included your Rwanda visa, medical service, individual insurance, tips and meal outside Virunga National park, other drinks, and everything not listed in the program.
