It’s also the setting for the greatest migration on earth, when millions of wildebeest stampede across the plains in search of sweet fresh grasses.

Detailed safari itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Nairobi to Samburu national park

After morning breakfast at your lodge with the family our senior safari guide will pick you up from your hotel and start your drive to Samburu national Park, upon arrival at the lodge you will check, have lunch and relax before heading to the park which is a home to unique resident wildlife including the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx and the Blue legged Somali Ostrich. Dinner and overnight at Lodge.

Day 2: Full day game drives in Samburu national park

After Lazily morning breakfast you will head out in to the park for morning game drive, this park has a number of wildlife species not usually found in the southern game parks, including Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffes, Grevy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Vulture guinea fowl and hundreds of Elephants, after you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation and later you will  visit the Samburu tribe in the evening ,The Samburu are a Nilotic people of north-central Kenya that are related to but distinct from the Maasai. The Samburu are semi-nomadic pastoralists who herd cattle mainly cattle but also goats, sheep and camels.

Day 3: Drive from samburu national park to sweet waters wildlife sanctuary

Depart Samburu national park after breakfast arriving in time for lunch at Sweet waters Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a beautiful private game reserve and home to rare species such as Beisa oryx, Rothschild’s giraffe and black rhino. Game drives here reveal the full range of African wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and hippo. Enjoy a private visit with the tame animals at the wildlife orphanage. Observe chimps at the Chimpanzee Sanctuary as well.

Day 4: Drive from sweet waters wildlife sanctuary to Lake Nakuru national park

After breakfast we depart sweet waters wildlife sanctuary for Lake Nakuru via Thomson falls arriving in time for lunch, we proceed Laker Nakuru National park for an extensive game viewing in search of cats in the among acacia trees which are leopards favourite and also on search of Rhino.(Nakuru is the home to the White rhinos and has tens of Black rhinos after the drive you will return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 5: Drive from Lake Nakuru national park to Masai mara national reserve

After breakfast depart Lake Nakuru for Maasai Mara arriving in time for lunch. You will have a game drive as you drive to the camp for lunch. Another game drive will be at 4p.m. Look out for Lion, Cheetah, Elephant, Buffalo. Overnight at luxury lodge.

Day 6: Full day game drives in Masai mara national reserve

After morning breakfast you will head out for full day game drive in Masai Mara game reserve, across the plains in search of the big cats (black manned lions, Cheetahs and leopards with picnic lunch served at the Mara River site. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the Mara grasslands in huge numbers during this period of the annual migrations take place, when millions of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle traverse the Mara plains landscape to feed on the rich new grass from the Serengeti. You also have a chance to see other plain game like the Topi, hartebeest, Eland. All meals and overnight at luxury lodge.

Day 7: Full day game drives in Masai mara national reserve

After an exciting day you will head out for a half day game drive in Masai Mara game reserve, across the plains in search of the big cats (black manned lions, Cheetahs and leopards with picnic lunch served at the Mara River site after picnic you will return to the lodge for relaxation, swimming and later in the evening you will visit the Masai village to interact with the masai people.

Day 8: Drive from Masai mara national reserve to Nairobi

After morning breakfast you will depart Masai mara national reserve for Nairobi, upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 9: Nairobi city tour and transfer to the airport for your flight

After lazily morning breakfast you will head out to Nairobi for a city tour, during the city tour you will have a chance to test local Kenyan dish and later return to the lodge for relaxation and later in the evening you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.

Best time to travel to Kenya for a safari

The best time to go on a family safari in Kenya is during the dry season, which is June to October. During this period it’s easier to spot animals at this time, because they gather at water sources due to the scarcity.
