Safari itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe and transfer to Kibale Forest NP

After morning breakfast you will be picked up by our your safari guide in Entebbe and start your drive to Kibale forest national park via Kampala suburb, en route you expect to see the beautiful countryside upon arrival in fort portal town you will have lunch, after lunch, you will then drive to park for check-in and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking experience and transfer to Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth NP

This will be a classic day of experience, After morning breakfast you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Kanyanchu park headquarters for a briefing by the rangers about chimpanzee trekking after you will start your trek into the forest, after locating the chimpanzees you will view the chimpanzees for 1 hour after which you will return to the park for an early lunch after lunch you will start your drive to southern queen Elizabeth national park arriving in time for check-in and overnight.

Day 3: Full day game drives in Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth NP

After morning coffee you will have a short game drive in the park in search of the early morning wildlife like hyenas, elephants, and leopards if you’re lucky you may catch the glimpse of hunting on the ridge in the southern plains of the park and later return to the lodge for full breakfast after you will head out again for a mid-morning game drive in search of tree climbing lions and other wildlife after which you will return to the lodge for relaxation and later in the day you will take an evening sundowner game drive in the park.

Day 4: Drive to Bwindi impenetrable NP

After an exciting day in the park, you will continue with morning and mid-morning game drives depending on the side of Bwindi where your gorilla permits are scheduled, this will determine the time and departure from the park if you are trekking gorillas in the Northern part of Bwindi you can easily depart after lunch but if your trekking in the East, south or lower south then you may need to depart earlier this day will fully be described in your final travel itinerary.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi forest

As the sun rises above the sky you will start getting ready for Africa’s greatest wildlife encounter, the gorilla trekking experience, the day will start with morning preparations and breakfast after which you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a gorilla briefing after the briefing you will then start your trek into the forest in search of the mountain gorillas, after locating the gorillas you will spend 1 hour with them and later return to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 6: Drive to Volcanoes national park Rwanda

After lazily morning breakfast you start your cross border drive from Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable national park across the Cyanika border to Rwanda’s volcanoes national park, upon arrival in volcanoes national park you will check-in for relaxation and overnight.

Day 7: Golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes NP and transfer to Lake Kivu

After morning breakfast you will be picked up from the lodge and transfer to Kinigi for a golden monkey briefing by the park rangers, after the briefing you will then be transferred to the starting for the trek after which you will start trekking o foot, after locating the golden monkeys you will then spend 1 hour with them and later return to the lodge for refreshment and later drive to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi for relaxation.

Day 8: Day at leisure on the shores of Lake Kivu

You will have a morning at leisure and later in the evening you will take a sundowner boat cruise on the lake as you will be looking out for local fishermen, water birds as sail slowly on the lake and sip a cold Rwandan beer and later you will return to the lodge for overnight.

Day 9: Drive back to Kigali

After morning breakfast you will bid farewell to the lodge and start your drive to the Rwandan capital Kigali, upon arrival in Kigali you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial and later head to Caplaki graft village for souvenir shopping and later your guide will transfer to the airport for your outbound flight.

When to book safari package

1 year in advance is required as the gorilla and chimpanzee permits are very limited and sold on first come and first serve.

Best time to travel

The best time to visit Uganda and Rwanda is during the dry season from June to October and from December to February when there is less rainfall received in the two countries and primate treks are usually easier though this is the busy time for tourism as their summer holiday across the world.
