Detailed safari itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Nairobi to Aberdare national park

After breakfast in the morning, depart from Nairobi passing through Nyeri town where Lord Baden Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts movement, spent the last years of his life and is buried here. Have lunch en route at Aberdare Country Club and drive through the forest to view various species of game. These can be seen along the way to your tree hotel. Your accommodation balcony which overlooks a floodlit waterhole gives you the opportunity to watch game in the night.

Day 2: Drive from Aberdare to Samburu national park

Following a morning breakfast, depart north to Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch before taking an afternoon game drive to Samburu Game Reserve. This beautiful park is a home to rarely found species such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa Oryx, and blue-necked Somali ostrich beautiful.

Day 3: Full day game drives in Samburu national park

You will spend a full day exploring Samburu reserve and its diverse species of game. The reserve is reached in wildlife with fame for abundance in rare northern specialist species such as the Gravy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk, and the Beisa Oryx (Also referred to as Samburu Special). The reserve is also popular with a minimum of 900 elephants. Large predators such as the Lion, Leopard, and Cheetah.

Day 4: Drive from Samburu national park to Lake Nakuru national park

After breakfast, depart north of Aberdare Mountains and descend into the Great Rift Valley for Lake Nakuru. Visit one of the world’s well-known bird sanctuaries of Lake Nakuru National Park, hundreds of Flamingos always breed in the salty lakes of Nakuru and other wildlife like Rhinos and hyenas can be seen in the park.

Day 5: Drive from Lake Nakuru to Lake Baringo

After breakfast departs for Lake Baringo and Bogoria, these are the new home to Kenya Flamingos, see them in large groups by the water and enjoy the natures of the hot springs of Baringo. Dinner and overnight in Lake Baringo County Club.

Day 6: Drive from Lake Baringo to Masai Mara national reserve

This morning you will cross the Great Rift Valley and arrive at Masai Mara Game Reserve. Have lunch at Sarova Mara Lodge before exploring the plains and rolling hills for a chance to spot the elephant, black-maned lion, leopard, buffalo, cheetah, and with diverse species of hoofed animals. Overnight at Sarova Mara Lodge / Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 7: Full day game drives in Masai Mara national reserve

Wake with the dawn to witness a sunrise out on the Masai Mara. As the sun sets fire to the savannah, you’ll have the chance to watch predators such as leopards and lions out on the hunt while the air is still cool. After a late breakfast, you’ll have the choice to either relax at your lodge until lunch and then head out into the park or take a picnic lunch and head out into the park for a day of discovery as you track the movements of the Wildebeest Migration (seasonal) or go in search of the Big Five.

Day 8: Drive from Masai Mara National to Nairobi for your departure flight

Best time to see wildlife in Kenya

The best time to visit Kenya is during the Dry season from late June to October (these are the best wildlife viewing months). The wildebeest migration usually reaches the Masai Mara in August and remains until October when they move back to the Serengeti in Tanzania.
