Safari itinerary

Day 1: Kigali city tour in the morning and transfer to Volcanoes national park in the Afternoon

After morning breakfast you will be picked up by your guide and transfer to Kigali city where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial and the Belgian peace centre, thereafter you will head for lunch to the famous hotel Rwanda and later you will drive to volcanoes national park via Musanze town upon arrival you will check-in for relaxation and overnight.

Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking experience

After early morning breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide and transfer to volcanoes national park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking, after the briefing, you will then drive to the trailhead where you will start your trek into the forest, upon locating the mountain gorillas you will view the gorillas for 1 hour and later return to the endpoint and drive back to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 3: Golden Monkey trekking in volcanoes national park

After an exceptional gorilla trekking experience in volcanoes national park, you will transfer to park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing about golden monkey trekking, after you will drive to the starting point for the trek, upon locating the golden monkeys you will spend 1 hour with them and later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 4: Full day hiking Mount Bisoke Volcano Crater Lake

This will be one of the greatest tests for your hike in Rwanda, the hike to Mount Bisoke is one of the most extraordinary safari experiences in Rwanda, the hike will take you through some superb vegetation and upon arrival at the summit you will enjoy some brief taking views of the surrounding and the classic crater later at the top of the Volcano, depending on the pace of the trek this can take anything from 6 hours to full-day upon return you will be transferred to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu for relaxation

After lazily morning you will transfer to the shores of Lake Kivu, this lake is one of the classic relaxing beach destinations in Rwanda, the Azure waters and the white sand will give you the much-needed relaxation after several hikes in volcanoes national park, upon arrival you will check in to your resort for relaxation and overnight.

Day 6: Morning at leisure and sundowner boat cruise on Lake Kivu

You will take the morning at leisure and take a sunset boat cruise on Lake Kivu, on the cruise you will expect to see local fishermen, beautiful birds and the islands; you will also enjoy drinks and snacks on the cruise and later return to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 7: Drive to Kigali for your flight

After morning breakfast you start your drive to Kigali, upon arrival you will be transferred to the airport for your scheduled flight or you will be transferred to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

When to book the safari package

This safari package can be booked between 6 months to 1 year, this will allow us to book the gorilla permits in advance as they are sold on a first come first serve basis.

The best time to see mountain gorillas and Hike volcanoes in Rwanda is during the dry season and this is during June to October and June to March when there is less rain making hiking trails drier.
