Safari itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes national park

After morning breakfast your guide will pick you up from the lodge and transfer you to Kigali for a short city tour, after you will start driving to Volcanoes national park upon arrival you will check-in and relax at the lodge for the rest of the day.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience in Volcanoes NP

This will be a very exciting day as you will be ready to come face to face with the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, after morning breakfast your guide will pick you up and transfer you to Kinigi park station for a briefing, after the briefing you will drive to the trailhead to start your trek into the forest, after locating the gorillas you will spend 1 hour with the mountain gorillas and later return to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes NP

After a great experience with the Mountain gorillas, you will again get ready for another day of primate encounter, after your morning breakfast your guide will pick you up from the lodge and transfer Kinigi park headquarters for a golden monkey trekking experience upon arrival you will meet the park rangers for a briefing after you will drive to the starting point for golden monkey trekking after you will start your trek o foot to located the monkeys, upon locating the golden monkeys you will then spend one hour with the monkeys and later return to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 4: Drive to Lake Kivu for relaxation

After lazily breakfast you will drive to Musanze to visit the Diana Fossey Museum, after you will then drive to Lake Kivu in Karongi where you will do a sunset boat cruise on the Lake with drinks and snacks and later return to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 5: Drive to Nyungwe forest national park

This will be a lazy day; you will enjoy a walk on the shores of the lake and lunch after lunch you drive to Nyungwe forest national park, upon arrival you will check in to the lodge for relaxation as you prepare for chimpanzee trekking experience in Cyamudongo.

Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe forest NP

After early morning breakfast, you will drive to Gisakura park headquarters to meet the rangers, after a short briefing, you will drive to the Cyamudongo section of Nyungwe forest start your trek, upon arrival you will head into the forest, upon locating the chimpanzees you will spend 1 hour with the chimpanzees and later return to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 7: Drive back to Kigali

After morning breakfast you will bid farewell to the lodge and start your drive via the forest to Butale where you will visit the ethnographic museum after you will continue to Nyanza where you will visit the King’s palace and enjoy the Rwandan cultural experience and later continue to Kigali, upon arrival in Kigali you will be transferred to your booked lodge or transfer to Kigali.

Best time to travel

Rwanda is open for tourism all year round but the dry season is from June to October and a short one in January when the country receives less rainfall and trekking is easier
