Detailed safari itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After morning breakfast you will head into Kigali city for a short city tour, After depending on the time you may have lunch in Kigali and then drive to Volcanoes national park, upon arrival at your lodge you will check-in and if you wish you do a walk around the lodge you may do that and then return to the Lodge for relaxation.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After early morning breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide and transferred to Kinigi park headquarters where you will attend a Mountain gorilla briefing about what to expect on your gorilla trek after you will then drive to the trailhead to start your trek into the forest, upon locating the Mountain gorillas you will spend 1 hour with the Mountain gorillas and later return to the Lodge for relaxation

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking Experience

Yet another day in the rainforest, after morning breakfast you will be transferred to Kinigi again for your golden Monkey trekking, just like gorilla trekking you will have a briefing at the park and after you will be transferred to the trailhead where you will start your trek into the forest, after locating the golden Monkeys you will spend 1 hour with them and after you will return to the Lodge for relaxation.

Day 4: Drive to Lake Kivu

After lazily breakfast you will transfer to Musanze where you will visit the Dianna Fossey museum after the visit you will transfer to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation on the shores of the Lake.

Day 5: Morning at Leisure and boat cruise on Lake Kivu

You will spend the morning at leisure, you may choose to walk around the lodge or visit the fishing villages after you will return to the lodge for Lunch after lunch you will relax later in the evening you will take a sundowner boat cruise with cold drinks as you enjoy the sunset on the lake looking out the fishing boats and the water birds and after you will return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 6: Drive back to Kigali

After morning breakfast depending on the flight schedule you will start your drive to Kigali, upon arrival in Kigali you may choose to do some optional activities like an extra city tour or you may book a day room and relax and refresh after your guide will transfer you to the airport for your outbound flight or you will be transferred to your booked accommodation.

Best time to travel

Rwanda can be visited all year round however traveling in the dry season is much better and that is usually from May to October and from December to March when there is less rainfall or no rainfall making safari activities more fun.
