Detailed safari itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Bujumbura international airport
On arrival at Bujumbura international airport, you will be received and transferred to your lodge for relaxation, and if time allows you will head to the city shortly for money exchange and shopping.
Day 2: Drive to Kibira national park for full day primate trekking
After early morning breakfast, you will depart Bujumbura for Kibira national park for your ultimate primate walk, the park is a habitat to 98 mammal species, a dozen primates (numerous families of chimpanzees, baboons, red-tailed monkeys, black colobus, and some 200 species of birdlife and after you will return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 3: Full day trekking and birding in Kibira national park
After early morning breakfast, you will drive to Kibira national park for a full day birding safari, Kibira borders Nyungwe forest, and its one of the true birding paradises in Burundi, Some of the important birds found here include the great blue turaco, mountain buzzard (Buteo oreophilus), white-spotted flufftail (Sarothrura pulchra), grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus), bar-tailed trogon (Apaloderma vittatum) and the black-and-white-casqued hornbill (Bycanistes subcylindricus)and later you will return to the lodge for overnight.
Day 4: Day at leisure and short city tour of Bujumbura
After Lazily morning you will head to Bujumbura city for an afternoon city tour of the vibrant city that was once a German military base and it has been transformed into an active administrative center for Burundi and this has a very rich culture for Burundian people.
Day 5: Boat cruise in Rusizi national park
After morning breakfast you will drive to Rusizi national park for a boat cruise, this exiting River empties its water into Lake Tanganyika and it’s a great habitat for wildlife like Hippos, antelopes, monkeys, and abundant birdlife and later you will return to the lodge for relaxation and later you will enjoy dinner by the Lake.
Day 6: Depart Burundi for your onward journey
Depending on your departure flight you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.
