5 Days Cultural and Scenic Lesotho Tour

The encroachment of European settlers into the lands of Basotho people in the 19th century resulted in them retreating with their king Moshoeshoe I into the mountains where they defended themselves successfully against attack. Eventually, they were granted protection by Queen Victoria, and the Kingdom of Lesotho more or less as it looks today was founded. In the 1960s the protectorate of Basotho land became the Republic of Lesotho and remained within the British Commonwealth.

Best Time to Travel to Lesotho for a Safari

The best season for Lesotho travel is generally in the transitional periods. In winter, it is sunny during the day, but the cold (dropping to 5°F) makes many visitors wary. In summer, it is warm, with temperatures up to the high 80s. The temperature differences between day and night are, however, very pronounced, which frequently results in thunderstorms. The weather is especially pleasant in April and May.
