Uganda has continuously become one of the top destinations in East Africa for gorilla trekking experience, south of the main capital Kampala lies one of the most renowned tropical rainforests of Bwindi impenetrable national park and Mgahinga gorilla national park, this two habitat currently act as a home to the world’s half population of Mountain gorillas though the south is located far away from Entebbe you can take a 1-2 hour flights and this will save you a lot of driving for those that don’t fancy long drives.

Detailed safari itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe international airport

Upon arrival in Entebbe international airport you will be received by our safari guide and transfer to the lodge for relaxation and overnight, depending on your time of arrival you may head out to Entebbe town for small shopping and money exchange or even head out for dinner in one of the famous restaurants in town.

Day 2: Domestic flight from Entebbe to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip

After early morning breakfast our guide will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to Entebbe international airport for your scheduled domestic flight to Kihihi upon arrival you will be received and transfer to Ishasha sector for a short game drive, this park is famous for tree climbing lions, Uganda Kob, Topi, Buffalo, Hippo and elephants after the short drive you will have lunch and later transfer to Bwindi for dinner and Overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi forest

Sitting in silence on the cold ground of a Ugandan forest for 60 minutes might be one of life’s greatest privileges. There are fewer than 1100 mountain gorillas in existence, and gorilla trekking provides a rare opportunity to observe the everyday interactions of these gentle, mysterious primates, After morning breakfast at your lodge you will be transferred to the park station for you briefing by the park rangers and after you will start your trek on foot in the dense rainforest, after locating the mountain gorillas you will then spend 1 hour with them and return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 4: Depart Bwindi forest to connect your outbound flight

After morning breakfast depending on your flight schedule you will be transferred to Kihihi airstrip for your flight to Entebbe, upon arrival in Entebbe you may be transferred to your day room or transferred directly for your onward flight.

Best time to trek Mountain gorillas in Uganda

The best time to visit Uganda for gorilla trekking is during the country’s two dry seasons: January and February and from June to September.
