Detailed safari itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe international airport and transfer to your hotel for relaxation

For long waited adventure, our expert guide will be waiting for you at Entebbe international airport, upon arrival you will be received and transferred to your booked lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 2: Drive to Jinja via Mabamba swamp, sezibwa falls for overnight

After morning breakfast you will drive to Mabamba wetlands, this is one of the best places to see the endangered shoebill stork, this bird breeds in the swamps and feeds on fish, you will take a motorised canoe and hit swamp this tour will take 2-3 hours after you will return and drive through Kampala to sezibwa falls for a tour and later drive to Jinja the source of the Nile for overnight.

Day 3: Full day rafting or optional Source of the Nile cruise

After morning breakfast you will transfer to the starting point for your white water rafting adventure, this is one of the best places to raft in Africa alongside Victoria falls after you will return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 4: Drive to sipi falls

After morning breakfast you will drive to sipi falls, this unique water falls is located at the edge of Mount Elgon national park, there are 3 sets of waterfalls that you will see as you hike a long farm lands with some breath taking views, upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 5: Full day hiking to sipi falls

After morning breakfast you will meet your local guides, dressed in your hiking gear with enough drinking water you will drive to the starting point for the hike, this is one of the best hiking adventures in eastern Uganda, this hike will lead you to 3 waterfalls with breath taking views after the hike you will return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 6: Drive to Moroto

After morning breakfast you will start your drive to Moroto via Pian Upe wildlife reserve and the rugged mountains of Nakapiripiiti, this drive will take you through the cattle corridor where you expect to encounter Karamojong warriors rearing their cattle, before hitting the slopes of Mount Moroto home to the tepeth tribe that lives in the mountains and this is where you will stay overnight.

Day 7: Visit the museum and the market in the morning and evening visit to the Karamojong nomads

After morning breakfast you will drive to the museum where you expect to encounter some incredible data and history after you will transfer to the Market for a visit and later return to the lodge for relaxation and later in the evening you will drive to the Karamajong Manyattas and spend the rest of the evening with the cattle keepers and share some incredible cultural experience with them and later return to the lodge for overnight.

Day 8: Drive to Kidepo valley national park

After morning breakfast you will bid farewell to the lodge and start your drive through some of the most spectacular landscapes in eastern uganda, this drive will take you through Matheniko and Bokora wildlife reserve where you will brake for birds and upon arrival at the lodge you will check in and do an evening game drive along the rock kopjes in search of lions, cheetahs, elephants, Buffalos, Giraffes and many bird species and later return to the lodge for overnight.

Day 9: Full day game drives in Kidepo valley national park

Kidepo national park is the true definition of Uganda’s wilderness, this national park is located North eastern Uganda bordering Kenya and south sudan, it some of the most spectacular views of any open plains in Uganda, after morning breakfast you will start your game drive, this drive will take you along dramatic rock kopjes and sausage trees and water holes where the wildlife tent to congregate some of the game you expect to encounter include, elands, giraffes, jackals , Uganda Kob, Elephants, Buffalo and abundant birdlife after you will return to the lodge for Lunch, relaxation and after you will also do an evening game drive in search of wildlife and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Fullday game drives in Kidepo valley national park

After morning breakfast you will again head to the nation al park in search of wildlife in the morning and in the evening, landscape will be a key aspect of your photography in this park and late in the evening you will enjoy a sundowner in the park with drinks and snacks and later return to the lodge for overnight.

Day 11: Drive to Murchison falls national park

After morning breakfast you will start your drive to Murchison falls national, just like Kidepo valley, this park is a truth wildlife paradise, wildlife usually congregate along the Nile during the dry season making it a classic game viewing destination, its famous for its Giraffe, leopard and elephant population. Upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and after you will depart the lodge for a short game drive in the park.

Day 12: Full day game drives in Murchison falls national park

After an early morning breakfast with packed lunch you drive in to the Nile delta open plains in search of wildlife and birds, some of the highlights will be Big Herds of Buffalo, Elephants, Giraffes, Uganda Kob, Jackson’s heartbeest and some many other species, you will also enjoy picnic lunch under acacia trees as you will admire the endless plains over the lake in to the blue mountains of Dr Congo and later you will return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 13: Morning game drive and boat cruise in the Afternoon

After morning breakfast you will do a morning breakfast and after head out for a short morning drive and return to the lodge for hot lunch and after you will transfer to the peer to take your scheduled water falls cruise to view Murchison falls from below, you will expect to see wildlife like Hippos, crocodiles, elephants and abundant birdlife along the shores of the Nile River.

Day 14: Visit top of falls and transfer to Lake Albert for relaxation

After lazily morning breakfast you will drive to the top of the falls for a short hike to view the falls from the top, after you will then drive to Lake Albert where you will enjoy spectacular views of Lake Albert and the Albertine Rift valley, upon arrival you will enjoy the rest of day at leisure as you will enjoy the endless views from your room.

Day 15: Drive to Kibale forest national park

After morning breakfast you will start your drive to Kibale national park via the tea plantations of fort portal town, you will visit the tea farms and later continue to the lodge for relaxation later in the evening you will have a primate walk in Bigodi wetlands in search of primates and birds and later you will return to the lodge for overnight and relaxation.

Day 16: Full day hiking in Semuliki national park and return to Kibale forest

After morning breakfast you will drive to semuliki national park for a nature walk, this walk will take you to some spectacular male and female hot springs after the nature walk you will visit cocoa and vanilla farm and later drive back to Kibale for overnight.

Day 17: Chimpanze trekking in morning and afternoon transfer to Rwenzori mountains national park

After morning breakfast you will drive to Kanyanchu park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing by the armed ranger guides, after the briefing you will then start your trek on foot in search of the incredible primates, chimpanzees are pretty vocal and very active and you will most cases hear them before you see them, after locating the chimpanzees you will spend 1 hour with them and later return to the lodge for lunch and refreshment, after you will drive to Rwenzori Mountains national park.

Day 18: Morning hike to Rwenzori and afternoon transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

Nearly 100,000 ha in western Uganda and comprises the main part of the Rwenzori mountain chain, which includes Africa’s third highest peak (Mount Margherita: 5,109 m). The region’s glaciers, waterfalls and lakes make it one of Africa’s most beautiful alpine areas. The park has many natural habitats of endangered species and a rich and unusual flora comprising, among other species, the giant heather. After early morning breakfast you will head out for a half day hike of the Rwenzori Mountains after you will return to the lodge for lunch and refreshment after you will depart for Queen Elizabeth national park arriving in time for relaxation and overnight.

Day 19: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

After morning breakfast with packed lunch you will head to Kasenyi plains for a morning game viewing in search of wildlife like Elephants, Buffalo, Lions, Leopards, Uganda Kob after you drive to explosive craters before heading to the Kazinga channel for a boat cruise, on this cruise you will expect to encounter Hippos, crocodiles, Buffalos, elephants and abundant bird life after you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 20: Drive to Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park

After lazily morning breakfast you will drive to southern sector of Queen Elizabeth national park, this area is famous for tree climbing lions, you will enjoy an enroute game drive as you head to the lodge for lunch and relaxation, after you will then do an evening game drive in search of wildlife like elephants, leopards, Buffalos, tree lions and hippos after you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 21: Drive to Southern Bwindi impenetrable national park

After morning breakfast you will drive through the park to southern end of Uganda near the volcanoes, you will be staying at Lake Mutanda which is overlooking the Virunga volcanoes; you will enjoy some of the breath taking views of the volcanoes and Lake Mutanda, upon arrival you will check in for relaxation and overnight.

Day 22: Gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi forest

After early morning breakfast fully dressed in your trekking gear, you will drive Rushaga the southern Bwindi impenetrable national park for a gorilla trekking briefing by a ranger guide, after you will start your trek in to the rainforest to trek the family of mountain gorillas, upon locating the gorillas you will spend 1 hour with them and later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 23: Golden monkey trekking experience in Mgahinga gorilla national park

After early morning breakfast you will drive to Mgahinga gorilla national park for golden monkey trekking experience, this rear monkeys have a restricted home range, you be led by a research who will take you to the habitat for the golden monkey and you trek the monkeys upon locating them you will spend 1 hour with them and after you will return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 24: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi

After lazily morning breakfast you will bid farewell to the lodge and drive to Lake Bunyonyi, this is one of Uganda’s deepest lakes with extraordinary views located near the Rwandan border, upon arrival you will enjoy lunch and relax at the lodge for relaxation for the rest of the day or optional activities can be arranges with your guide on ground and Paid directly.

Day 25: Drive to Lake Mburo national park

After lazily morning breakfast you will drive to Lake Mburo national park, this small national park has incredible wildlife that you don’t see in most parts Uganda, upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation, you may choose to do an evening game drive or relax for the rest of the day at the lodge.

Day 26: Full day relaxation in Lake Mburo national park

Your guide will be available for any game drives but you can have a full day relaxation at the lodge, the optional activities on this are walking safari, horse riding, boat cruise or nature walk at the lodge and you can decide this on ground and arrange with your guide.

Day 27: Drive to Entebbe

After morning breakfast you will drive to Entebbe via the equator where you will have the opportunity to take pictures, do souvenir shopping and enjoy local lunch and after proceed to Entebbe, upon arrival you will be transferred to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 28: Transfer to the Airport for your departure flight

After all the memories of Uganda, depending on your departure time you will be transferred to the Airport for your departure flight home.

When to book safari package

We recommend booking this safari 1 year in advance to allow us request for discounts from Lodges and book your gorilla, chimpanzee and golden monkey trekking permits.

Best time to trek Mountain gorillas in Uganda

The best time to book this safari is at the end of the dry season between September and October when there is abundant wildlife and gorilla trekking is excellent.
