Tanzania and Kenya are Africa’s visual masterpiece for classic safari vacations in East Africa, Masai Mara and Serengeti forms the backdrop of one of the most spectacular wildlife events in East Africa, Filming the Wildebeest Migration is one of the most challenging events for many fixers as there are no guarantees on where and when the wildebeest will plunge into the Mara River to make their way from Serengeti to Masai mara, our experts will take you on this expedition north of Serengeti and East Masai mara to follow the mega herds from the end of July to August.

Detailed safari itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kenya for Kit clearance and transfer to your hotel overnight (book flights arriving early in Kenya)
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta international airport, you will clear your kit with the Kenya revenue authority and proceed to the arrivals where our expert fixer and guides will receive you and transfer you to your lodge in Nairobi overnight.
Day 2: Drive to Masai Mara National reserve in Masai Mara
After morning breakfast you will double-check that you have all you need for the next few days out in the wild and start your drive to Masai mara national park particularly at the Mara Triangle, this typically a wildlife sanctuary home to African big 5 wildlife of Lions, Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo and Elephant on arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation, going through equipment and overnight.
Day 3: Full day Filming wildebeest Migration in Masai Mara
After an early morning breakfast before sunrise and picnic lunch and enough drinks, you will start filming the abundant wildlife in the park as you try to locate the mega herds across the mara river in Serengeti, after locating the mega herds you will position your vehicle and Camera in the right direction as the crossing happens suddenly and you don’t want to miss capturing that, usually, crossings happen in the middle of the day or morning or evening hours so you will spend the whole day on the shores of Mara River and return to the lodge after sunset and then discuss the next plain with your fixer and overnight.
Day 4: Full day Filming wildebeest Migration in Masai Mara
After an early morning breakfast before sunrise and picnic lunch and enough drinks, you will start filming the abundant wildlife in the park as you try to locate the mega herds across the mara river in Serengeti, after locating the mega herds you will position your vehicle and Camera in the right direction as the crossing happens suddenly and you don’t want to miss capturing that, usually, crossings happen in the middle of the day or morning or evening hours so you will spend the whole day on the shores of Mara River and return to the lodge after sunset and then discuss the next plain with your fixer and overnight.

Day 8: Drive back to Nairobi and connect your Flight to Kilimanjaro clear kit and transfer to Hotel
After morning breakfast you will drive from Masai Mara to Nairobi, on arrival you will be transferred to the airport for your connecting flight to Kilimanjaro Tanzania on arrival you will be received and transferred to the lodge overnight.
Day 9: Drive to Serengeti national park
After morning breakfast you will depart Arusha for Northern Serengeti where the Mara River is located, this drive will take you through the endless plains of the Mighty Serengeti, in Africa during the migration Serengeti records the highest population of predators making it perfect location for filming the Migration on arrival you will check in to your lodge, discuss the plans with your fixer and overnight at your lodge near the mara River.
Day 10: Full day Filming wildebeest Migration in Serengeti
After an early morning breakfast before sunrise, you will head out to the plains to try and locate the mega wildebeest herds as you film other wildlife in the park on locating the herds you will start filming them depending on where they are if they are on the banks of the Mara River then you may have to be patient as there is no guarantee on when they will start crossing the River into Masai mara, you will spend the entire day following or waiting for the herds to cross and return to the lodge after sunset and the discus the next plan with your fixer and guides.
Day 11: Full day Filming wildebeest Migration in Serengeti

Day 14: Drive back to Arusha for your onward Journey
After morning breakfast you will start your drive to Arusha on arrival you will check in to your day room and later transfer to the airport for your onward journey.

The best time for filming wildebeest migration is from Late July to October, in reality, July, August, and October will give you higher chances to see the River crossings.
