The peak of the wildebeest migration in Serengeti national park is the epic and spectacular Mara River crossing stage in the northern Serengeti with the raging Mara River the largest obstacle to the migration’s progress (July-September / October depending on the rains). With millions of Hooves tormenting the ground a thunder-like Noise is hard with the dusty cloud as the herds bunch up on the riverbank before taking the plunge; The Nile Crocodiles wait for the drama as the ambitious wildebeest struggle to reach fresh grazing plains in the Masai Mara. Little do they know; the infamous Mara lions form an intimidating viciously waiting across the plains.

Zanzibar is all about sand between the toes, drink in hand, and tan over the body. Tranquil Zanzibar spices up the wilderness of Tanzania with its stunning beauty. The Zanzibar Archaeology combines more than 50 stunning islands lying on the Indian Ocean coast.

Safari itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Arusha to Tarangire national park

After morning breakfast at your lodge in Arusha, you will be picked up by your guide and start your drive to Tarangire national park, this scenic drive will take you through the beautiful countryside and upon arrival at the lodge you will check in to the lodge for relaxation and later you will take an evening game drive in the park on this drive you will expect to see wildlife like elephants, giraffes, Zebras, and beautiful baobab trees and not forgetting the incredible birdlife.

Day 2: Drive from Tarangire national park to Serengeti national park

After morning breakfast you will start your drive to Serengeti national park, Serengeti is a bigger eco-system and part of this drive will take you through the park where you expect to see abundant wildlife and birds like Zebras, Wildebeest, Buffalo, Thomson’s Gazelle as you head to the lodge upon arrival at the Lodge you will check in to the lodge for relaxation and Overnight

Day 3: Full day Game drives in Serengeti to follow the wildebeest Migration herds  

After morning breakfast with packed lunch, you will head out into the game tracks to look out for some of Africa’s classic wildlife like Lions, Leopard, Buffalo, elephants, cheetah, and many others at the same time you will be looking out for the mega wildebeest herds along the Mara River after locating the Mega herds you will patiently follow them or wait for any River crossing and later you will return to the Lodge for relaxation.

Day 4: Full day Game drives in Serengeti to follow the wildebeest Migration herds  

After a spectacular day of safari in Serengeti, you will again take morning breakfast and picnic lunch and start looking out for wildlife you may have missed as you continue to the Mara River to follow the mega herds, depending on the experience you will expect to see the wildebeest cross Mara River from Masai Mara to Serengeti and later you will return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 5: Full day Game drives in Serengeti to follow the wildebeest Migration herds  

After morning breakfast you will head to the park to look out for more wildlife Serengeti being a bigger ecosystem you may visit different areas for a game drive this will be decided by your expert tour leader and later you will still head to the Mara River to follow the wildebeest herds and later you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation and later in the day you will take a sundowner game drive with cold drinks and snacks and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Visit Masai village and transfer to Lake Manyara national park

After morning breakfast you will drive to the Masai village as you head to Lake Manyara national park depending on the time of arrival you may do a short game drive in search of wildlife in the park and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Flight from Serengeti to the Zanzibar Archipelago

After morning breakfast you will start your drive to Kilimanjaro national park to catch your connecting flight to Zanzibar, upon arrival in Zanzibar you will be received by our represent and transfer to your Luxury resort for relaxation and overnight.

Day 8: Full day relaxation or optional activities in Zanzibar

You will have the full day at leisure as you will enjoy the swimming pool, sunbath and relax at the lodge.

Day 9: Full day relaxation or optional activities in Zanzibar

You will also have a full day of relaxation at the lodge or you may choose to do any optional activities which can be arranged by the lodge and you will pay them directly.

Day 10: Depart Zanzibar for your own word flight  

After a full day of relaxation at the lodge, you will bid farewell to the lodge then be transferred to the airport for your outbound flight.

Best time to witness wildebeest Mara River Crossing

The best time to visit Zanzibar is during the archipelago’s dry season, from July to September, which is a very popular time to travel and this perfectly bonds with the wildebeest Migration from Late July through August is the best time to see the Mara River crossings.
