Safari itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali international airport
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be received by our guide and transferred to the lodge for relaxation and overnight, depending on the time of arrival you may be taken through the safari briefing on what to expect on your safari by our Rwanda safari experts.
Day 2: Full day Kigali city tour
After morning breakfast you will enjoy a full day city tour of Kigali, this tour will take you to the Kigali genocide museum, Kimironko market, Belgian peace center before having lunch at the famous hotel Rwanda where thousands of the Genocide victims took refugee during the genocide and later you will be transferred to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 3: Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After early morning breakfast, you will start your drive to Nyungwe forest national park, en route you will visit the King’s palace in Nyanza before proceeding to the ethnographic Museum in Butale and you will also have lunch there and later you will continue to the forest for check-in and overnight.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest National Park
After morning breakfast you will transfer to Gisakura park headquarters for a briefing at 4:30 am and after you will drive to Cyamudongo where the chimpanzee trekking experience takes place, upon arrival you meet the trackers and head into the forest to search for the chimpanzees, after locating the chimps you will spend 1 hour with them and later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 5: Tropical waterfall walk in Nyungwe Forest
After lazily breakfast you will meet the park rangers for your tropical waterfalls hike, this hike will take you through the mountain forest of Nyungwe where you expect you encounter primates, birds, butterflies, and duikers before enjoying a refreshing time at the waterfalls, and later return to the lodge for overnight.
Day 6: Drive to Lake Kivu for relaxation
After lazily breakfast you will drive to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi for relaxation and later in the evening you will do a sunset boat cruise on the Lake, on this cruise you will expect to encounter local fishermen and the beautiful birds as you sip a cold drink on the boat with snacks and later you will return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 7: Drive to Volcanoes National Park
After lazily morning you will drive to Volcanoes national park en route you will visit the Diana Fossey Museum in Musanze and also have lunch in town and later you will visit the Musanze market and later you will drive to the parking area in Kinigi for overnight.
Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early morning break with packed lunch dressed in your gorilla trekking gear your guide will transfer you to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing by the park rangers about the gorilla trekking experience, after the briefing you will be transferred to the trailhead to start your trek on foot in the rain forest, after locating the mountain gorillas you will view them for 1 hour and later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 9: Golden Monkey Trekking in Volcanoes NP
After morning breakfast you will be transferred to the park headquarters again for yet another exciting primate walk in the forest, the golden monkeys live in the bamboo zone so it should be a lighter trek upon locating the golden monkeys you will spend 1 hour with them and later return to the lodge for relaxation.
Day 10: Transfer to Kigali for your outbound flight
Depending on your flight schedule you will start your drive by visiting the twin Lakes of Lake Bulera and Lake Ruhondo, after you will then drive to Kigali for your outbound flight.
