Zimbabwe may have been Southern Africa’s “forgotten” safari destination, but its renaissance is in full swing! In the heart of Zimbabwe’s best-known national parks stand a host of small private lodges and camps, established to further protect the area’s rich diversity of big game. Hippos basking above magnificent Victoria fall, and track highly endangered Black Rhinos.

Detailed safari itinerary

Day 1: Upon arrival in Victoria Falls national park you will received and transferred to Hwange national park

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be received by our guide and transferred to Hwange national park, the drive is pretty easy and upon arrival you will check in to your lodge and if time allows you will head in to the national park for a short game drive in search of wildlife and abundant birdlife.

Day 2: Morning walking safari and game drives in the park

After early morning breakfast you will meet up with the armed ranger guides for a morning walking safari in the park, this walk will give you the true african experience on encountering big game on foot, after you will continue game driving in the park as you explore the vast fauna and flora in the park some of the wildlife you will be looking out for include the big five of Lion, Leopard, elephant, buffalo and Rhinos.

Day 3: Morning and evening game drives in the park

After morning breakfast you will continue exploring the park as you search for the incredible wildlife in the park on this day you will do both morning and evening game drives, this safari drives will give you perfect game viewing a long water holes and photography as you will experience and enjoy Zimbabwe’s premier wildlife sanctuary.

Day 4: Morning game drive and Night game drive

On this day you will head out early to catch up with the early dwellers like Hyenas, lions and Rhinos, this drive will take most of the morning and later return to the lodge for relaxation and later in the evening you will head out to the park for a sundowner game drive and later continue with Night game drive where you will have chance to hear the sounds of African wilderness, this will include hyenas, lion roars, and many other.

Day 5: Transfer Hwange National Park to Matobo National Park

After morning breakfast you will start your drive to Matobo National park. The drive will take most of the day with much to see along the way. You will arrive in Matobo later in the afternoon and will be able to watch the sun go down on this unique landscape.

Day 6: Full day exploration of Matobo National Park

Matobo National Park could not be more different from Hwange National Park. Large granite outcrops dominate the landscape. The park has numerous cave paintings to be viewed, fantastic vistas and a great game park as well; all in easy driving distance. Rhino Safari on foot with a professional guide in the shadows of the Matobo Hills is one of the most iconic safaris in Africa. Feel your heart pound as you get close to one of the world’s most handsome and endangered animal.

Day 7: Drive from Matobo National Park to Marongora in Lower Zambezi

After breakfast you will start your road transfer to Marongora on the Zambezi escarpment overlooking the Lower Zambezi floodplain. We will be on the road most of the day, but all will be worth as we are closer to Mana Pools National park, which is only 1 hour away, upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 8: Full day game drives Mana Pools national Park

After an early morning gam drive you will drive to mana pools national park, this is one of the diverse national parks in Zimbabwe with stunning wildlife experience you will expect to encounter wildlife like Elephant, eland, buffalo, impala, waterbuck, baboons, monkeys, zebra, warthog and hippo are some of the larger herbivores to be seen regularly on the river terraces as they come out to eat the fallen albida fruit. Lions, leopards, spotted hyena, wild dogs and cheetah are present in the area.

Day 9: Morning walking safari and evening game drives

After morning breakfast you will drive to Mana pools national park to meet up with the trained rangers for a walking safari, this is one of the greatest ways to encounter African wildlife, after the incredible walk you will later meet up with your guide to continue game driving in the park and later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 10: Transfer from Mana Pools National Park to Harare

After Breakfast we need to break camp, pack up and need to exit our camp site not later than 10 am. It is a long drive to Harare and we will only reach our destination late in the afternoon. We often see game on the drive out of Mana Pools and we can take timely breaks along the way.

Best time to see wildlife in Zimbabwe

The best time to visit Zimbabwe is from May to September. At this time Victoria Falls is most impressive and wildlife viewing is excellent as animals congregate around the rivers and waterholes.
