Bwindi impenetrable national park is Uganda’s top premier safari destination for gorilla trekking safaris the park is located about 400 kms from the main capital Kampala giving travellers bit of a long drive to reach the land of Mountain gorillas.
Bwindi impenetrable national park has four gorilla trekking regions where one can book gorilla permits and trek the Mountain gorillas in their natural habitat in the rain forest, the Northern part of the park is first area where gorilla habituation started and it’s called the Buhoma gorilla sector, the second region is Ruhija which is two hours away from the northern part, the third is Rushaga gorilla sector of which is located at the lower south of the park and the last sector is called the Nkuringo gorilla sector which is located in the Upper south of the forest and the western part of the national park is bordered by Democratic Republic of Congo.

Detailed safari itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and transfer to your hotel
Upon arrival in Entebbe international airport you will be received by our representative and transfer to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 2: Domestic flight from Entebbe to Bwindi forest
After morning breakfast you will be transferred to Entebbe international airport for your domestic flight to Bwindi, this scenic flight is about 1 hour to 2 depending on the connection, upon arrival in Bwindi you will be received by our guide and transferred to your luxury hotel for relaxation and Overnight.
Day 3: First gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi forest
After long waited experience you will wake up with a coffee or tea at your room, after you will dress in your gorilla trekking gear, then you will enjoy hot breakfast at the lodge and then take packed lunch and enough drinking water, then you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a gorilla briefing by park rangers, after you will start your trek in the rainforest on foot, usually trackers will be in the forest already and you guide will be keeping in touch using walk talky, upon locating the mountain gorillas you will spend 1 hour with them and later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 4: Second gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi forest
Yet another exiting day will start with morning breakfast at the lodge, after you will take picnic lunch and enough drinking water and transfer to the park for your second gorilla trekking experience, on this day you will visit a different gorilla family, just like the first day you will head in to the forest to trek the gorillas, upon locating the gorillas you will spend 1 hour with them and later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 5: Drive to southern Queen Elizabeth national park
After lazily morning breakfast you will depart Bwindi for southern Queen Elizabeth national park, this is a two hour drive, upon arrival you will take an enroute game drive in search of wildlife as you drive to the lodge, you will arrive in time for lunch, after lunch you relax and take an evening game drive in search of wildlife like Buffalo, Elephants, Hippos, Lions, Leopards, Hyenas, topi and Uganda Kob and the abundant birdlife in the park and later return to the lodge for dinner and Overnight.
Day 6: Full day game drives in Southern Queen Elizabeth national park
On this day you will enjoy 3 game drives in the park, first will be an early game drive, followed by mid-morning game drive and evening game drive as you will looking out for the famous tree climbing lions, the lions usually like to stay near fig trees or acacia trees, a long you will also encounter other wildlife like Elephants, Buffalos, and you will end the day with a sundowner on the famous Ntungwe ridge and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer to Mweya for a boat cruise on Kazinga channel
After morning breakfast you will bid farewell to the lodge and drive mweya section of Queen Elizabeth national park, upon arrival you check in, have lunch after transfer to the boat peer for an afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga channel, this natural channel draws a lot of wildlife during the dry season and you will expect to see a lot of wildlife on the cruise some of the highlights include elephants, Hippos, Crocodiles and abundant birdlife and later you will drive to the lodge for relaxation or continue on an evening game drive in the park returning to the lodge in the dark.
Day 8: Morning primate walks in Kyambura gorge and afternoon transfer to Kibale forest national park
After an early morning breakfast you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Kyambura gorge, this forest is located in the Queen Elizabeth national park, here you will meet the ranger guides and enter the gorge, the main aim is to trek for primates like chimpanzees, black and white colobus, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys and baboons, the river that runs through the park is also a home to Hippos after the trek you will then drive to Kibale forest national park upon arrival you will check in for relaxation and overnight.
Day 9: Chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale forest
After morning breakfast you will drive to Kanyanchu park offices for a chimpanzee trekking experience, this will start with a briefing about the trek, after you will be a located an armed ranger guide who will lead you in to the forest, chimps are pretty loud and upon locating them you will spend 1 hour with them and later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 10: Drive back from Kibale to Entebbe
After lazily morning breakfast, you will start your drive to Entebbe, upon arrival you will be transferred to the airport for your own ward journey.

Best time to Trek mountain gorillas in Uganda
The best time for gorilla trekking is usually during the dry season from May to September and from December to February.
