Detailed safari itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to your hotel for overnight
Upon arrival in Kigali international airport our tour guide will receive you and transfer you to your lodge in Kigali city centre for overnight.
Day 2: Drive to Gisenyi for overnight
After Lazily morning breakfast you will start your drive North towards Volcanoes national park enroute to Gisenyi which is the bordering town to Goma in the DR Congo located on the shores of Lake Kivu, upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 3: Cross the border at Goma in to Dr Congo and transfer to Virunga national park
After morning breakfast you will be transferred to the border to clear immigration at both Rwanda and Congo side after clearance you will drive to Virunga national park arriving in time for relaxation and overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking experience in Virunga national park
After morning breakfast you drive to the Virunga park headquarters for your Mountain gorilla trekking briefing by the park rangers after the briefing you will start your trek in to the misty jungles of the Virunga, upon locating the mountain gorillas you will spend 1 hour with them and later drive back to the lodge for overnight.
Day 5: Cross back to Rwanda and drive to Cyangugu for overnight
After Lazily morning breakfast you may visit the Senkwekwe gorilla orphanage and after you will transfer to the border for clearance, after crossing to Rwanda you will drive a long lake Kivu to Cyangugu which the second border town on Lake Kivu bordering DR Congo’s Bukavu where Kahuzi Biega is located, upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and Overnight.
Day 6: Cross the border at Bukavu in to DR Congo
After morning breakfast you will transfer to the border for immigration clearance, after clearance you will transfer to Bukavu town for relaxation and overnight.
Day 7: Gorilla trekking experience in Kahuzi Biega national park
After an early morning breakfast you will drive to Kahuzi Biega national park, upon arrival you will be taken through a lowland gorilla trekking briefing, after the briefing you will then start your trek in to the rainforest in search of the gentle giants, upon locating the Lowland gorillas you will spend 1 hour with them and then return to the park for a debrief after you will drive to Bukavu for overnight.
Day 8: cross the border back to Rwanda and transfer to Lake Kivu in Karongi
After Lazily morning breakfast you will transfer to the border for immigration clearance, after you will drive to Karongi on the shores of Lake Kivu for relaxation and overnight.
Day 9: Fullday relaxation at the shores of Lake Kivu
You will spend the whole day relaxing at the shores of Lake Kivu, optional activities like Boat cruise can arranged with your guide directly.
Day 10: Drive to Kigali for your departure flight
After morning breakfast you drive to Kigali, upon arrival depending on your flight schedule you will be transferred to the Airport for your departure flight.

Best time for gorilla trekking in Congo
Dry season is the best time to travel to Democratic Republic of Congo due to the bad road conditions; this is usually from May to September.
