Rushaga gorilla trekking sector is located in the lower southern part of Bwindi forest and its one of most visited gorilla trekking areas in Bwindi; the strategic location of Rushaga makes it famous and also one of the sectors in Bwindi with the highest concentration of gorilla families in Bwindi impenetrable national park.
Rushaga is the only area in Uganda where clients can participate in Gorilla habituation alongside rangers, the habituation is a four-hour gorilla trekking experience that will cost one $1500 per person and only 4 people are allowed every day.

Rushaga’s close proximity to Lake Mutanda and Mgahinga gorilla national park makes it a great area to base for gorilla trekking and other activities within Lake Mutanda and Mgahinga some of the activities include

How to get to Rushaga gorilla trekking sector
Rushaga gorilla trekking area is slightly located away from the main capital Kampala closer to the border with Rwanda; the area can be accessed either by air or by Road
- By Air
The closest airstrip to the Rushaga gorilla trekking region is Kisoro airstrip which is a two-hour drive via Lake Mutanda and Lake Mulehe; however, there are only morning flights to this Airstrip from Entebbe and the flights are subjected to other passengers traveling, or else the cost may be slightly higher but the flight is worth the money.

Rushaga is located a 10-11 hours’ drive from the main capital Kampala and its located 4 hours away from the Rwandan capital Kigali via Katuna or Cyanika border points those on regular tours will access the area from Queen Elizabeth national park which is a 5-hour drive via Ruhija gorilla trekking sector.
