How to get to Ruhija gorilla trekking sector?

Getting to Ruhija is quite easy via Kabale town which is the adventure capital of southwestern Uganda and famous for its easy access from the Rwandan Capital Kigali and Lake Bunyonyi Uganda’s deepest Lake.

  • By Air

Being located pretty much in the middle between Kihihi airstrip and Kisoro airstrip the driving distance from both airstrips is about 3-4 hours making it popular for short gorilla tours from either Kampala or Kigali.

Clients who may choose to fly will have to fly to Kihihi preferably as it is 4 hours scenic drive and flights there are not interrupted by weather, unlike Kisoro airstrip which has only morning flights into the area.

  • By Road

The most easily accessible route to Ruhija for gorilla trekking is via the Rwandan capital Kigali via Kabale town which is only 4 hours and from Kampala via Mbarara-Kabale road is about 9 hours.
