Entebbe town the peninsular on Lake Victoria, Entebbe has developed as a tourism hub in Uganda and most Uganda safaris will start or end in Entebbe, being the former capital of Uganda the city offers a lot of tourist attractions that you can enjoy while in Entebbe.

Here is an overview of some of the activities that you can do while staying in Entebbe.

Day trips to Mabamba wetland to see the shoebill stork

Shoebill is a pre-historic bird that lives in the wetlands north of Entebbe and those staying in Entebbe can visit the wetland in search of the endangered bird in the morning or in the afternoon, besides the shoebill, there are several other bird species you can see at the island.

Entebbe Botanical gardens

The botanical gardens is a protected area within the Entebbe area for the protection of fauna and flora, the garden stretches all the way to the lake and it’s a perfect place to see trees, birds, and Monkeys and there are usually local guides at the entrance that will guide you on your tour.

Uganda Wildlife Education Center

The Uganda wildlife education center formerly the zoo is an educational institution aiming at educating the people who may not be able to visit the national parks most especially young school student and it’s open every day and it has several species of wildlife including chimpanzees, Rhinos, Lions, cheetah, Tigers that can see and get to learn more about and there also other activities like behind the scenes, chimp close up that can also do.

Dinners on the beach

If you love to eat at the shores of the lake then Entebbe has a few restaurants located by the lake where you can take your loved ones or family for dinners or lunch or a drink some of the restaurants include 2 friends and Goretti’s pizzeria.

Roadside Markets

Entebbe has several markets ranging from food markets, souvenir markets and while in Entebbe you can visit these markets and it’s really ok and people are friendly in these markets

Reptile’s village

The reptiles village is a profit wildlife sanctuary that was started with an aim of protecting reptiles like snakes, tortoise, chameleons and the team is responsible for rescuing snakes and other reptiles from villages, and its worth a visit.

Ngamba island chimpanzee sanctuary

Ngamba Island is an island located 23 km south of the mainland Entebbe and it was gazetted for the protection of the chimpanzees currently there are over 40 orphaned chimpanzees and clients can take day trips or overnight stays at the island and there several activities like birding, sunset cruise, fishing and feeding the chimps that you can do at the Island.

Guided biking tours

You can hire bikes and try out your skills of riding midst motorbikes and people walking on foot, the guided tours are very safe and very fun for avid riders.

Boda Boda tours

Incredible unreal but one of the best means of traveling in Uganda is the motorbikes that are locally called Boda Boda, you have a ride with local riders as they take you to different tourist attractions and sites.

Half and full-day fishing trips

While in Entebbe you can book fishing safaris to fish for the fresh waters famous fish the Nile perch, Anglers can enjoy either half-day or full-day fishing safaris on Lake Victoria.

Lake Victoria boat excursions

While in Entebbe you can organize several cruises like a sunset cruise, leisure boat cruise, or even take the boat trips to see fishing villages around the Lake these cruises can be arranged anytime at your convenience.

Best time to visit Entebbe

Entebbe lies close to the Equator and you can visit any time of the year but usually, it’s dry during June to October and from December to February but being close to the lake the area receives rainfall anytime.
