8 Days Uganda Gorillas, chimpanzee and wildlife safari

Expedition overview

Clients on this safari will trek white Rhinos on foot in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary which has an exceptional history of breeding Rhinos for release in the wild, the sanctuary is home to over 30 Rhinos.

Clients on this trip will need to arrive in Entebbe a day before the trip starts alternatively we can help you book pre or post-safari accommodation at an extra cost and we will arrange free airport transfer for you.

Gorilla trekking is the main highlight of this expedition and gorilla trekking will take place in Bwindi impenetrable national park, chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge and golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park.

The safari starts in Entebbe but it can end in Entebbe or Kigali depending on the request of the clients you will need to apply for an East African Visa as opposed to a single entry visa.

Safari itinerary

1Day 1: Drive from Entebbe to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary

On this day our guide will meet you at your lodge in the morning a short briefing about the safari, after you will depart for Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary; six southern white rhinos were introduced into the sanctuary back in 2006. But, since then we have had 26 successful births, bringing the number to 32. Presently, Ziwa is the only place in Uganda where you can see rhinos in the wild on arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and later head out for Rhino trekking in the evening.

2Day 2: Drive from Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to Murchison Falls national park

After morning breakfast you will depart Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Murchison falls national park the park is blessed with wildlife and birds some of the highlights are the hippos, Crocodiles, elephants and Giraffes you can also see predators like Lions, Leopards and Hyenas in the park, on entering the park you visit the top of the falls for 1 hour hike and after proceed for Lunch and later enjoy an evening game drive in search of wildlife and birds in the famous Nile Delta.

3Day 3: Morning game drive and Mid-morning boat cruise

You will have an early morning breakfast and then depart for the park’s northern bank for a game drive that will take you to the Nile Delta where you will see wildlife roam on the shores of the River and open plains, you will have chances to see wildlife like elephant, lions, buffalos, leopard and many other species of birds then after you will join on a scheduled boat cruise to the bottom of the falls where you will expect to see hippos, crocodiles and elephants and later return to the lodge for relaxation.

4Day 4: Drive from Murchison Falls to Queen Elizabeth national park

You will have an early start from Pakuba safari lodge; this drive will take you through Lake Albert the extreme end of the east African Rift Valley, rolling hills toted with tea farms and crater Lakes, the mighty Rwenzori mountains on a clear day will be viewed, you will also have chance to see local communities as you drive to Queen Elizabeth national park, this park offers incredible game viewing and you will have chances of encountering huge herds of elephants, lions, buffalos, Leopards and local fishing villages along Lake Gorge and Edward.

5Day 5: Chimp trekking in Kyambura gorge and Boat cruise on the Kazinga channel

After morning breakfast you will drive to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee trekking, Kyambura gorge is one of the most sensational landmarks in Uganda, the forest is located in the valley and is dissected by River Kyambura and it’s home to hippos, elephants, monkeys and of course the chimpanzees, you will have the opportunity of spending 1 hour with the chimps once you have located them and later you will head out for a boat cruise on Kazinga channel and you will expect to see elephants, crocodiles, hippos and beautiful birds and after you will head out for an evening game drive or return to the lodge for relaxation.

6Day 6: Drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park

After morning breakfast you will drive through the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park, this park is popular for tree-climbing lions, and you will have a short game drive in the park in search of tree lions and other wildlife like Leopards, elephants, topi, Buffalo, Hippos, Uganda Kob and abundant birdlife in the park.

7Day 7: Gorilla trekking experience and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

There are only about 1004 mountain gorillas left on Earth and trekking into Bwindi forests is the only way to see these critically endangered Mountain gorillas, as they cannot survive in captivity, Trekking for gorillas in Africa’s emerald rainforests and observing the everyday interactions of these vulnerable primates is arguably one of life’s greatest wildlife encounters. After morning breakfast with packed lunch fully dressed in your trekking gear you will transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by the expert park rangers, after you will start your trek into the forest in search of these gentle giants, after locating them you will spend 1 hour with them and later drive to Lake Bunyonyi Uganda’s deepest lake with one of the most spectacular views, upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and later in the evening you may do an optional boat cruise or relax at the lodge.

8Day 8: Drive back to Entebbe

Depending on your flight, you will enjoy morning breakfast at the lodge after you will depart for Entebbe via the Equator line, where you will stop for shopping, coffee and pictures after you will continue to Entebbe upon arrival you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.

Due to the high demand for gorilla permits from June to February we kindly request clients to secure gorilla permits way in advance to avoid any inconveniences as we do not sell gorilla permits we help book them for our clients from the government of Uganda through Uganda wildlife authority.

Booking advice

This tour package can be booked any time of the year however we highly recommend booking slightly early due to the high demand for gorilla permits during the summer holidays from June to October and from December to February.
