The Sacred Heart Cathedral
The Sacred Heart Cathedral is the mother of the Archdiocese of Lome, one of the seven Catholic Church districts of the African Republic of Togo. Built-in just over a year by the German colonial authorities, then it became one of the iconic buildings of the new capital of Togo.
Strong red and white coloring that’s circled by the Grande Marche, so peace and madness in the same vicinity.
Very similar looking to the Cathedral in Kpalime, displaying German colonization before the French. There is a school next door where we handed out crayons to the little ones. Hard to get good exterior pictures as it’s so backed up to the market, but the whole building is in a good state and a striking emblem amongst Lome’s hustle.
