This safari must be booked 1 year in advance as a lot of preparation is required.

Flights start in Kigali and return to Kigali

Kigali is the main international airport of Rwanda and clients will be transferred to the main airport to take the charter flight to volcanoes national park and this allows clients to take later flights depending on their arrival in Kigali and those in Kigali can take the day at leisure and can fly to the park in the Afternoon.

Safari flights are done using a helicopter

Suggested travel plan for the Fly-in Rwanda gorilla safari

Day one

Clients will arrive at the Kigali international airport upon arrival they will be received by a guide from Wilderness Explorers Africa and transfer to your hotel in Kigali for relaxation and overnight.

Lodge option: Kigali Serena hotel or Haven boutique hotel.

Day Two

Morning breakfast at leisure, transfer to Kigali genocide museum for a city tour and return to the lodge for lunch and after lunch transfer to the airport for a Helicopter flight to volcanoes national park for check-in and relaxation at the ambiance of a true wilderness.

Lodge option: One&only gorilla nest or Singita Kwitonda Lodge.

Day Three

You will start your day with a wakeup call which will be a campaigned with a cup of coffee and cookies as you get ready for full breakfast and later our guide will transfer you to the starting point for gorilla tracking, here you will meet the ranger guides who will brief you on the rules and regulations of gorilla tracking before you will drive to the trailhead as your start trekking to the forest to find the mountain gorillas after viewing the gorillas for one hour you will return to the lodge for relaxation and hot lunch and our private guide will plan for the rest of the day based on how clients feel.

Day Four

Second gorilla trekking day, based on the yesterday’s experience clients will head out again in the rain forest to trek a different gorilla family and this will give the clients totally different experience with the mountain gorillas.

Day Five

This an optional day for clients as the entire morning can be at leisure or clients can do optional activities like Golden monkey tracking or they can visit the Karisoke Diana Fossey museum in Musanze town before having their lunch and saying goodbye to the staff taking their Helicopter flight back to Kigali, upon arrival based on the schedule clients may have a day room if they are flying out on a later flight or they may connect with their outbound flight or they can stay overnight in Kigali.

Best time to visit Rwanda

Rwanda is open for tourism all year round but the best months to visit are the dry months of June-August and December to February which has seen less rain fall compared to the wet months of March-May and September-November.
