Tofo Beach Mozambique

Tofo Beach Mozambique

Tofo is a coastal town in south-eastern Mozambique. It’s known for the curved Tofo Beach and nearby coral reefs. Huge manta rays circle at Manta Reef, a well-known “cleaning station,” attracting small fish that feed off the rays’ parasites and other debris. Dolphins, whale sharks, and migratory humpback whales also swim off the coast, in the waters of the Indian Ocean. To the north are the resorts of Barra Beach.

A wide and sunny arc of powdery beige sand carves its way along the shoreline to the north and south of tropical Tofo.

Meanwhile, the turquoise-blue rollers of the Indian Ocean buffet the bays, snorkelers, and swimmers whiz through the shallows and bobbing fishing skiffs house smiling locals.

Laid-back life mixed with the heady after-dark atmosphere of the half-Rasta beach bars of Tofo town makes this all nearly irresistible for travelers in search of sun, sand, sea, and relaxation.

Tofo beach is one of Mozambique’s most developed centers of tourism, Tofo Beach. Here you will find a prolific collection of restaurants, cafés, dive centers, and lodgings. Mozambique has a coastline of over 2,500 kilometers, so why is Tofo so unique?

Things to do at Tofo beach Mozambique

Aside from stunning sandy beaches and dramatic landscapes of black coral rock along Tofinho, the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean off of this spit of land offers much more. Humpback Whales (seasonal) are seen from boats and the shore in large numbers; listen to their songs on dives.

Many reef fish and dolphins, turtles, large schools of game fish, marlin, and sailfish are found in Tofo’s waters. A large variety of marine life is found in Tofo as elsewhere all along the coast of Mozambique. Here the main attractions are the megafauna species: the whale shark and the two manta ray species, the reef manta ray, and the giant manta ray.
