List of Birds of Tunisia
As a birding destination, the country has perhaps been overshadowed by Morocco, which is almost three times the size, has a far larger attitudinal range (owing to the presence of the Atlas Mountains) and, as a consequence, a more varied avifauna, as well as reliable sites for some charismatic or rare North African birds, but Tunisia has several compensatory merits. It is remarkably compact (for example, pristine desert habitats can be reached in just half a day’s drive from the main airport); it is well served by an excellent road network; English and French are widely spoken and there is a broad range of hotels, restaurants, and other amenities even in some of the most remote spots.A variety of environmental zones makes Tunisia an incredibly attractive place for birdwatchers. Most of the 393 species recorded here are of desert origin. You can observe really rare and beautiful birds in this area: Marbled Teal, Ferruginous Duck, and White-headed Duck, You may also come across a unique opportunity to see the American flamingo some of the popular destinations include the Gulf of Gabes and Djerba.
