Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome
Upon Arrival at Bamako Airport; welcome by our representative and transferred to the lodge for safari briefing.

Day 2: Bamako – Djenne
Breakfast at the hotel; set out for Djenne by 4X4, Lunch at San, town of the Bobo people. Arrive in Djenne in the afternoon; hotel check-in; take photos of the world’s largest mud structure in the afternoon light.

Day 3: Djenne & Mopti River Tour
Djenne tour: tomb of Tapama, a sacred well, Koranic school, cultural museum, the old town of Djenne Djeno, founded by fishermen in 250 B.C. Lunch in Mopti at Bar Bozo, relax at hotel pool, Sunset river tour, visiting small Peulh villages and Bozo fishing villages. Dinner and a peaceful night.

Day 4: Mopti – Timbuktu
After breakfast, fly to Timbuktu (leave 8:50 a.m., arrive 10:05 a.m.) Visit the legendary town of Timbuktu, the town of 333 Saints, situated at the door of the Sahara Desert. To see the museum of explorers, big museum, the mosque of Djingueray Berre, Sankoe Koranic University, and Ahmed Baba Library where ancient manuscripts are on display. In the afternoon, take a camel ride to visit the camps of the Tuareg nomads and watch the sunset on the dunes; dinner and a peaceful night!

Day 5: Dogon Country – Segou
Breakfast, visit mud houses in the cliffs built by Tellem people 7th-8th c. that reach 200-300 meters in altitude and used today as Dogon tombs. After lunch in Mopti, drive to Segou, a relaxed town on the Niger River and capital of the former Bambara Kingdom.

Day 6: Segou – Bamako
Breakfast, visit the port of Segou, the crafts market, and the old quarter with Sudanese architecture. Drive to Bamako, and have lunch. Visit the National museum and souvenir market for last-minute purchases and then we will take you to the airport for farewell. Day 7: Dogon Country
Breakfast; return to Mopti by air (leave 8:00 a.m., arrive 8:50). Set out for Dogon Country by 4×4 stopping on the way to visit the rock painting in the grotto of Songho, then through Bandiagara. Have lunch in Sangha, then drive to Banani, Irely, take a small hike, meet the Dogon people, a lot to see and to experience, about legends, myth, and learn about the Dogon animism religion.

Day 8-Dogon Country – Segou
