Mudumu National Park Namibia

Mudumu National Park Namibia

The Mudumu National Park is situated in the Caprivi Strip in the north of Namibia and is bordered by the Kwando River in the west. It covers an area of approximately 1000 km² and has a, for Namibia, unusual landscape: rivers, reed islands and flat areas without any natural elevation.

Due to the rough sand roads, the Park should only be explored by 4×4 or by boat.

The Park has an abundance of wildlife, but due to its remoteness and tropical climate, it is rarely visited by tourists. Additionally, the park is situated in acute malaria area thus the use of prophylaxis is advisable when visiting. To get to the Park visitors have to travel along the Trans-Caprivi-Highway to Kongola and from there drive to the south.

The southern part of the Park has a lot of water. Here elephants, zebras, antelopes, buffalos and Hippos and crocodiles can be seen as well as more than 400 different species of birds.

Natural features Kwando River floodplain and associated grasslands, and riparian woodlands. The area is completely flat.
