This crossing usually occurs at Mara River around late July to August with parts of September and again on their return south, around the last two weeks of October through early November. Hence, the best times to track and see the annual wildebeest migration in Masai Mara. Masai Mara is known to have excellent wildlife viewing all year round. However for those looking for an opportunity to watch as the great wildebeest migration unfolds the best time to visit the Mara is from July to October.

Detailed safari itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta international airport in Nairobi, you will go through your visa process and after you will proceed to the arrivals where our guide will receive you and transfer you to your hotel for overnight and relaxation.
Day 2: Drive to Amboseli national park
After having a delicious breakfast, check-out from the hotel and start your journey to Amboseli, which is a very popular national park well-known for its huge elephant herds. You will enjoy a joyous game drive to Athi plains to Namanga to Nairobi. In the second half of the day, you will enjoy your game drive inside the park, where you will spot elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Day 3: Explore Amboseli national park
You will spend the third day at Amboseli enjoying thrilling game drives and soaking in the spellbinding views of the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro, enjoy game drives for the first half of your day, and spends some leisure time by the pool in the afternoon, in the evening, witness a gorgeous sunset and have dinner.
Day 4: Drive to Lake Nakuru national park
Check out and drive to Lake Nakuru National park at 0700 Hrs. Enroute pick up your packed lunch and proceed to Lake Nakuru Simba lodge or similar for check in. We later and drive to Nakuru National Park for game drive. Lake Nakuru’s claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo’s and the over 400 species of birds found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley. The sight of the Lake at times seeing millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species – particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here. Later drive back to the Lodge for overnight.
Day 5: Drive to Masai Mara national reserve
At 0800 Hrs Drive to via the Great Rift Valley to arrive at Masai Mara in time for lunch at the lodge. At 1530 Hrs you will head out for an afternoon game drive till dusk. Masai Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. Some of the famous ones include: lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants. It is in the Mara that perhaps has the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savannah- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.
Day 6: Full day game drives in Masai Mara national reserve
After breakfast, check out with packed lunch for the great migration experience. Spend the all day at the at the Mara River watching the Wildebeest Migration. Returning to your lodge is late in the evening.
Day 7: Full day game drives in Masai mara national reserve
We check out with packed lunch after breakfast and spend the day at the Mara River following the Wildebeest Migration. Thereafter you return to your lodge late in the evening for dinner and overnight at lodge.
Day 8: Full day game drives in Masai Mara national reserve
Yet another exciting day with start with hot air balloon over the vast plains of Masai Mara as you will look out for the mega wildebeest herds, after the balloon ride you will have a bush breakfast and after continue game viewing in the park, and you will also head to the Mara River to try and catch the River crossing Live.
Day 9: Flight from Masai Mara to Diani beach
After lunch your guide will transfer you to the airstrip in time for your scheduled flight to Diani beach, upon arrival you will be received by our guide and transfer you to the beach resort along the shores of the Indian Ocean. On arrival check-in and relax awaiting evening dinner while enjoying beach walks and relaxation by the white sandy beaches of the resort.
Day 10: Full day relaxation in Diani beach
After lazily breakfast you will spend the day at leisure enjoying beach walks along the private beaches of the resort. You will have the chance to sunbathing or engaged in the numerous water sports that are available including:- Scuba diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, big game fishing and deep-sea diving.
Day 11: Flight from Diani beach to Nairobi for your onward flight
Wake up and have breakfast at the resort. Check out and our company representative will pick you up and transfer you back to the Diani Airport and fly back to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta international airport to take the flight back home bringing to an end this amazing beach and bush safari experience in Kenya, Africa.
