Detailed safari itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes national park
Upon arrival in Kigali you will be received by our guide at around lunch time and drive straight to Volcanoes national park, upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience and transfer to Lake Kivu
After morning breakfast you will check out of your lodge and drive to Kinigi park headquarters for your gorilla trekking experience, upon arrival you will be met by the park rangers for a briefing about gorilla trekking, after you will be split in to smaller gorilla families and drive to the starting point for gorilla trekking experience, here is where you will start your trek on foot to find the mountain gorillas, upon locating the gorillas you will spend 1 hour with them and after you will drive straight to Lake Kivu for relaxation and Overnight.
Day 3: Cross the border to DR Congo’s Goma town for overnight
After Lazily morning breakfast you will drive to the border point to clear immigration, after clearing immigration you will drive to your hotel for relaxation and overnight.
Day 4: Full day hike to Nyiragongo and overnight on top of the summit
After early morning breakfast you will start your drive to the base of Mount Nyiragongo, upon arrival you will meet the expert hiking guides for a briefing about the Volcano and after you will start your hike, upon arrival at the summit you will check in to your camp and relax a little bit. After relaxation you will prepare your camera gear for photographing the lava, you will also have spectacular views at Night after you will overnight at the summit.
Day 5: Decent to the base and transfer to Goma town for overnight
After morning quick breakfast you will have the last views of the Volcano and after start your descending journey to the base, upon arrival you will be met by your drive and transfer to Goma for relaxation and overnight.
Day 6: Cross over to Rwanda and transfer to Lake Kivu for relaxation
After Lazily morning breakfast you will bid farewell to the lodge and drive to the border to clear immigration and after transfer to your lodge in Gisenyi for relaxation and overnight.
Day 7: Drive to Nyungwe forest national park
After morning breakfast you will start your scenic drive to Rwanda’s Nyungwe forest national park, this drive will take you through the rolling hills and the beautiful views of Lake Kivu, upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 8: Chimpanzee trekking experience in Cyamudongo
After an early morning breakfast you will drive to the park headquarters in Gisekura to meet with the park rangers and after drive to Cyamudongo area for your Chimpanzee trekking experience, here you will meet the trackers and start your trek in to the forest on foot, upon locating the Chimpanzees you will spend 1 hour with them and after return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 9: Drive to Kigali for your onward flight
After an early morning breakfast you will start your drive to Kigali, upon arrival in Kigali you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.

The best time to hike Nyiragongo Volcano is during the countries long dry season from June to September and from December to February and this fits perfectly with the gorilla trekking season in Rwanda.
