Detailed safari itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to your hotel for overnight
After your long international flight to Rwanda our Driver guide will receive you and transfer you to your hotel for relaxation and overnight.
Day 2: Drive from Kigali to Cyangugu for overnight
After early morning breakfast you will start your drive to Cyangugu which is the bordering town to DR Congo’s Bukavu, this drive will take you through Nyungwe forest one of Africa’s diverse rainforest, upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation, after you will have a briefing by safari operators from DR Congo on the Rwandan side and overnight.
Day 3 Cross the border at Bukavu in DR Congo
After Lazily morning breakfast you will meet by our Congolese guides at your hotel and transfer to the border for clearance, after immigration you will be transferred to Bukavu town for overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking experience in Kahuzi Biega national park
After an early morning breakfast you will be transferred to Kahuzi Biega national park to meet the park rangers for a lowland gorilla trekking briefing, here the guides will take you through what to expect and after you will transfer to the starting point for your trek, this trek will take you through incredible forest cover, upon locating the Lowland gorillas you will spend 1 hour with them and return to the park for a debrief after drive back to Bukavu for overnight.
Day 5: Second lowland gorilla trekking experience in Kahuzi Biega national park
As the sun rises up you will get up early again and drive to Kahuzi Biega national park, upon arrival you will have a short briefing by the ranger guides and after you will start your trek in the jungle again in search of yet another lowland gorilla family, after locating the gorilla family you will then spend 1 hour with them and return to the park for a debrief after you will bid farewell to the rangers and drive Bukavu for overnight.
Day 6: Drive back to Rwanda and transfer to Lake Kivu in Karongi
After lazily morning breakfast you will transfer to the Boda for immigration clearance, after clearance you will cross over to Rwanda, after clearing with Rwandan Immigration you will then start your drive to Karongi on the shores of Lake Kivu, upon arrival you will check in to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 7: Full day relaxation at the shores of Lake Kivu
You will spend most of the day at lodge relaxing, later in the evening you will take a sunset boat cruise on the Lake Kivu, this boat will give you an opportunity to see water birds, local fishermen and enjoy beautiful views from the Lake after you will return to the lodge for overnight.
Day 8: Drive to Kigali for overnight
After Lazily morning breakfast you will start your drive to Kigali, upon arrival you will check in to your hotel for overnight
Day 9: Kigali city tour in the morning and transfer to the airport for your departure flight
After morning breakfast you will be transferred to Kigali city for a city tour, on this tour you will visit the Kigali genocide Museum, the Belgian peace centre and also venture in to the Market in Kimironko after drive to Hotel Rwanda for Lunch and later return to your hotel for relaxation depending on your flight departure time you will be transferred to the Airport for your flight.
