Detailed safari itinerary

Day 1: Domestic flight from Entebbe to Kihihi airstrip

After an early morning breakfast our guide will transfer you to Entebbe international airport for your scheduled flight to Kihihi airstrip, upon arrival you will be received and transferred to the lodge for lunch and relaxation later in the evening you will have a short bird walk with the local site guides in Bwindi forest and later return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking Experience in Bwindi forest

Mountain gorilla trekking remains one of the undisputed highlights of any visit to Uganda, encountering this gentle giants deep in Bwindi forest can only be described as an emotional overwhelming experience, After your morning breakfast you will depart for a briefing at the park headquarters with the expert ranger guides, after briefing you will start your trek on foot deep in the jungle upon locating the mountain gorillas you will view, photograph them for 1 hour and after return to the lodge for relaxation, massage and cold drink.

Day 3: Second gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi forest

After morning breakfast you will head again to the forest for your second gorilla trekking experience, on this day you will visit a different gorilla family and you will have yet another experience with the mountain gorillas after the trek you will return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 4: Drive to Southern Queen Elizabeth national park

After lazily breakfast you will drive south to Queen Elizabeth national park, the southern sector is famous for tree climbing lions that love climbing up on the figs, upon arrival you will do enroute game drive as you head to camp for lunch and relaxation and after lunch you will head out again in search for other wildlife like leopards, elephants, Buffalos, Hippos, Uganda Kob and Top and you will also enjoy a sundowner on the famous Ntungwe ridge as you look out for hyenas and herds of elephants and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Full day game drives in Southern Queen Elizabeth national park

The southern sector of the park is smaller, so you will wake up for an early coffee and head out for a short early morning drive to look out for the hunting hyenas up on the ridge and after you will enjoy a bush breakfast in park and continue game driving in park in search of wildlife and birds after you will return to the lodge for Lunch and relaxation after you will have a short drive in the evening and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Drive to Kibale forest national park

After early morning breakfast you will drive to Mweya sector for a boat cruise at 11 am after the boat cruise you will enjoy a hot lunch at Mweya lodge and then drive through the Craters to Kibale national park arriving in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale forest

Though they are talked about as much as the mountain gorillas, the intelligence and social structure of chimps make them fascinating subjects for observation, and no two visits are the same. Chimpanzees live in communities ranging from 20 to 150 individuals. Like humans, they tend to have strong personalities. Their expressive faces make their identities easily recognized by us, even during a short visit. Lucky visitors will be able to hear their pant-hooting, a communal, loud calling session which can be triggered by anything that excites them, after morning breakfast you will be transferred to the park station for a briefing by the rangers, after the briefing you will head in to the rainforest to trek the chimpanzees on foot after locating the chimpanzees you will view them for 1 hour and after return to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 8: Drive to Entebbe for your onward flight

Depending on your flight schedule, you will depart Kibale for Entebbe upon arrival you will be transferred to the airport for your international flight.

Best time to trek Mountain gorillas in Uganda

The best time for gorilla and chimpanzee trekking is during the countries dry season from June to October and from December to February when the trails are drier and easy for trekking.
