Rwanda’s Cyamudongo is a popular destination for chimpanzee trekking as this small portion of the forest is a great habitat for the chimpanzees and you trek the chimpanzees on foot in the forest.

Safari itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and drive to Nyungwe forest national park
After morning breakfast you will start your drive towards Nyungwe forest national park via King’s palace Nyanza, where you will visit the tradition of Rwanda’s oldest Kings and later continue to Huye where you will visit the ethnographic Museum and enjoy Lunch after Lunch your, will drive to Nyungwe forest for check-in and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking experience in Cyamudongo
This is a remarkable day as you prepare to come face to face with the chimpanzees, the trek usually starts early with meeting the rangers at the Gisakura park office before driving to Cyamudongo where you will start your trek into the forest to trek the chimpanzees, after locating the chimps you will spend 1 hour with them and later drive back to the Lodge.
Day 3: Uwinka Canopy walks in the morning and transfers to Karongi or Kibuye
After lazily breakfast you will drive to Uwinka for the canopy walk after enjoying the beautiful walk you will then drive back to the lodge for refreshment after you will then drive to Karongi on the shores of Lake Kivu where you will enjoy a sunrise boat cruise on the Lake with drinks and snacks.
Day 4: Drive back to Kigali
After lazily morning depending on your schedule in Kigali, you will start your drive to Kigali along the Kivu belt upon arrival in Kigali you will be transferred to your booked accommodation or transfer to the airport for your departure flight home.
