Safari itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from your hotel for a city tour in the morning and later transfer to Volcanoes national park

After exiting arrival in Rwanda you will meet your guide in the morning and he will transfer you to the city for a short a city tour where you will visit the Kigali genocide museum and the Belgian peace centre after you will have lunch at the famous hotel Rwanda, after lunch, you will start your drive to volcanoes national park via Musanze, upon arrival at the lodge you will check in to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience in volcanoes national park

After early morning breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the park headquarters in Musanze where you will meet other travellers trekking on the same day, you will be taken through a briefing by your ranger guide then after you will drive to the starting point for your gorilla trek on foot, depending on the location of the gorillas you will spend 1 hour with the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat in the rainforest and later you will return to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes national park

After an exciting experience with the golden mountain gorillas, again your guide will transfer you to the park for yet another primate encounter, again you meet your guide for golden monkey trekking and drive to the starting point for the trek, upon locating the golden monkeys you will then spend 1 hour with them and later transfer to the lodge for overnight.

Day 4: Full day Mount Bisoke volcano Crater Lake hike

This is one of the highlights of your visit to Rwanda, after morning breakfast well dressed in hiking gear your guide will transfer you to the starting point for the mount Bisoke hike, here you will meet your ranger guides and start the trek, depending on your pace this hike could take you anything from 6 hours to the whole day en route you will see dramatic vegetation and landscape upon arriving at the summit you will enjoy beautiful views of the crater lake and later descent down upon arrival you will be transferred to your lodge for overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali for your flight

After lazily breakfast you will then start your drive to Kigali, depending on your flight schedule your guide will transfer you to the airport for your flight out or transfer you to your hotel overnight.

This tour can be booked for 6 months to a year in order to secure gorilla trekking permits for volcanoes national park which are sold by the government of Rwanda on a first come first serve basis.

Best time to Visit Rwanda for a safari

Rwanda is an all year travel destination but the best time to visit Rwanda is during the dry season from June to October and from January to March when it’s drier and hiking is easier.
